[Back to top] [Back to TOC]/contrib

Photoshop files for easy modification of the ranks. Contains a file for each group of shapes ([gX]<shape>_only.psd) and a file with all groups (all_layers.psd). Each file ought to have guide lines set up for aid in aligning the vector images. Each shape group (in any file) should have 5 images for the level, and 5 'off' images overlaid on each of the 'on' images, with their visibility off.

Except for the white parallelograms ([g1]parallel_only.psd) and the black circles ([g2]circles_only.psd), images use an emboss and a 1px black stroke and 'off' images flip the emboss and overlay an 80% opacity layer of grey (#898989). The diamonds use an inner bevel with chisel hard, with a drop shadow (similar to the effect gained from an emboss) and a gradient overlay. The 'off' circles use a different grey overlay (#C9C9C9).

To Install Rank Images, You need to do a couple of things

  1. First, you must get the rank images, either from here, phpBB Hacks or Forum Images.
  2. Then, Using an FTP Program Such as Smart FTP, login to your server.
  3. Go to the directory that you have phpBB installed in, and go into the images/ directory.
  4. Inside that directory, create a directory called ranks.
  5. Then, using the rank images you downloaded from one of the sites listed above, drag them into the ranks directory that you just created.
  6. Login to your phpBB Board, and go to the admin panel.
  7. Go to user admin, Ranks.
  8. Fill in the appropriate information.
  9. And for the image path put images/ranks/thenameoftherank.gif(or .jpg, or .png), with no slash at the beginning of the image path.

If they still do not work, make sure you have the permissions on the images/ranks directory set right, either to 666, or 777.
